Dostoyevsky Trip: By Vladimir Scorokin, Directed by Gene Alexander
Theatre of Glorious Abandon.
Seven junkies await their dealer to deliver their fix. What he brings them is a high no one had ever bargained for. This is a trip for the lover of literature, altered states of consciousness, and the ever present Dostoyevskian passions - money, power, lust and love. Raw and physical, this is a theatre of conviction, clarity and power from one of the best Russian writers today.

This show left me exhausted...in a good way. The actors were so invested in their "trip" that you couldn't help but ride it with them. Disturbing, thought provoking, at times non-sensical and yet utterly engaging.
Particularly impressive was Erin Mercer, whose command of the stage was riveting and whose talent makes her acting appear effortless. A ballsy piece whose success can only be attributed to a ballsy and able creative team.
